Maleficent's dark sorcery allows her to transform into a terrifying fire-breathing dragon, the prowess of which is enough to frighten people for kingdoms around.
When Regina, her only friend, enacted the Dark Curse, Maleficent's punishment was different from all others and she was trapped in her dragon form beneath the Storybrooke library until she was slain by Emma, the Savior.
Magic was keen to preserve her, however, for she eventually resurrected with new strength, new plans and her notorious Queens of Darkness to back her up!
Maleficent comes from the fairy-tale "Sleeping Beauty aka Little Briar Rose" by the Brothers Grimm and is portrayed by the compelling Kristin Bauer van Straten.
