When coming up with my concept for Pocahontas I consulted photos of steampunk designs. I decided on making her a guardian of the rivers and oceans so I will be including miniature vintage mariner's tools as well as metal turquoise beads and feathers, and the usual sort of gears and clockworks instead of the usual native American accessories.
I love Native American themes and after I meditated on it for a while, I was able to see how it could be used to really tell a story about time travel and shamanism, all in one doll.
